Dr. Narendra Jadhav, an Indian National, is currently a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha - Nominated. After obtaining Ph.D in Economics from Indiana University, USA in 1986 with highest grade, he has had a long and outstanding professional career spanning more than four decades in Public Service. Some of the distinguished positions held by Dr. Jadhav with distinction include Member of Planning Commission, Member of National Advisory Council (NAC), Vice-Chancellor of University of Pune, the Chief Economist - Reserve Bank of India, Advisor to the Government of Ethiopia and Chief Economic Counseller, Government of Afghanistan.
Currently, he is also Member of Public Accounts Committee, Standing Committee on Information Technology, Consultative Committee on External Affairs besides being the Visiting Professor, Ashoka University, Sonepat, New Delhi, Emeritus Professor of Public Policy, MIT School of Government, Pune, Chairman, RBI History Advisory Committee, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, Independent Director of Tata Teleservices, Tata Tele Maharashtra Ltd and Sustainable Agro-Commercial Finance (SAFL) Ltd., Mumbai
Being a Thought-Leader, Dr. Jadhav is a recognized expert on Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. He is a prolific writer in three languages – Marathi, English and Hindi, having written or edited 40 books and has over 300 research papers and articles to his credit, besides 31 official reports on a range of public policy issues in India. His family biography in English: “Untouchables” has been an international best seller (translated into 15 languages), best seller in Marathi in last 800 years and has won the coveted Sahitya Akademi Award.
Dr. Jadhav is recipient of as many as 70 National and International awards for his contribution to the fields of economics, education, literature, culture and social work. These include four Honorary D.Litt. Degrees and the title of the ‘Commander of the Order of Academic Palmes’ by the Government of France.
